Tribute

William H. Thompson VII, 69 of Milford, Connecticut, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Taft) Thompson, passed away on February 2, 2024. Born on January 19, 1955, in Bridgeport Connecticut, he was the son of the late William H. Thompson VI and Virginia (Andzulis) Thompson.

A graduate of Orchard Hills Elementary and Milford High School (1973), Bill loved living in Milford.  He spent his youth playing baseball, hockey and football.  Those who knew Bill remember his red Mustang, “Lizy”, named after the love of his life and wife of 48 years.  Bill had a passion for American muscle cars.  He owned many over the years and some of his favorites included a ‘71 Challenger, ‘69 Chevelle, ‘87 Grand National, and ‘06 Corvette.  He loved spending his mornings drinking his coffee at Gulf Beach with his life-long friend and “brother,” Gary Boyd, and his weekends were spent watching his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Recently retired, Bill spent many years in manufacturing working for Moore Tool, Emerson and HESCO.  Bill devoted many years to coaching and refereeing for Milford United Soccer and was the Assistant Coach of the Jonathan Law Boys Soccer team.  He also spent time as a volunteer referee for the Connecticut Special Olympics.

Besides sports and cars, Bill was very involved in his faith where he became a Eucharistic Minister and a Deacon in the Episcopal Church.  He spent many years singing in the choir at different parishes and also volunteered his handy-man skills with Habitat for Humanity.

In addition to his beloved wife, Liz, Bill is survived by his loving children, Will (Nicole) Thompson, Sarah (Christopher) Roberto, and Joshua Thompson.  Bill will also be dearly missed by his precious grandchildren, Gabriel and Stella Roberto and  Payton and Liam Thompson. Bill also leaves behind his sister, Ginny (Frank) Donato and his nephew, Frankie of Mesa, Arizona.  As well as his nephews Chris, Joel and Carl Bissell, Rowland Taft, and Kathe (Taft) Nasby.  He will also be deeply missed by his loving labrador, Lily.
