RuthAnn Durgy

RuthAnn Ferris Durgy, 92, of Derby, CT, beloved wife of 57 years to the late Francis Merritt Durgy, passed away into the presence of the Lord on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at Bishop Wicke Health Center. She was the daughter of the late Franklyn and Ethel Ferris.

After graduation from Norwalk High School where she played clarinet in the band, she worked as a telephone operator. Later, she worked many years as a registered medical secretary, and following that served as administrator of a hospital emergency room. She enjoyed music, swimming, boating, and reading. She loved pets—especially dogs. A lifelong Methodist whose faith in Jesus Christ guided her life, she was known for uplifting others by her prayers, encouragement, and acts of kindness. She will be greatly missed by both family and friends.

RuthAnn is survived by one daughter, Lynn Durgy Maletick and her husband Michael of Manassas, VA; one son, Sterling Merritt Durgy and his wife Dorothy of Milford, CT; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by a half-brother, Charles Hlavac.

The family is being compassionately cared for by the staff at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford, CT 06460. Interment will be private. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at a time and place yet to be determined.
