Robert "Bobby" Paul Auger

May 3, 1949 ~ May 28, 2023 (age 74) 74 Years Old

Tribute

Robert Auger, known to those who loved him as “Bobby”, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2023, at The Connecticut Hospice in Branford, CT. Bobby was born on May 3, 1949, in Bridgeport, CT to the late Walter and Ethel Auger.

Bobby held a few positions early in his career, including Marlin Firearms at both the New Haven and North Haven locations as well as Avco Lycoming in Stratford. Afterward, Bobby worked for the City of Milford for over 35 years, a position that allowed him to serve the city he loved and meet many of its fellow residents.

Upon his retirement, Bobby began working as the Ramp Attendant for Milford Lisman Landing Marina. He looked forward each summer to spending time in the sun and going above and beyond to assist the boaters, while making friends with the locals who visited the dock.

Bobby was a proud Milford resident who was a fixture in the community both through his service with the City of Milford and his support of local small businesses and participation in community events. He never failed to try a new bakery or restaurant in town, and was sure to deliver samples to his loved ones.

Another highlight of his summers was attending the Milford Oyster Festival, where he enjoyed catching up with friends, striking up a friendly conversation with a fellow festival-goer, visiting the local arts and crafts tables, and taking every opportunity to share his witty humor and corny jokes along the way.

Bobby was an avid sports fan who had an encyclopedic knowledge of sports trivia that spanned several decades and numerous types of sports. He never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite teams, chief among these the Atlanta Braves, New York Giants, Montreal Canadiens, and UConn Men’s and Women’s basketball teams. Bobby had a passion for reading books and music, endlessly adding to his impressive collections.

As passionate as Bobby was about his hopes for the Braves winning another World Series, there was nothing he loved more than his family. Bobby never missed a holiday, anniversary, or special occasion and he always understood the importance of keeping family traditions alive. Bobby was generous, kind, and loving to all those he met.

Bobby is survived by his brother, Richard Auger and his wife, Janet of Milford; his nephew, Daniel Auger and his wife, Becky of Washington DC; and his niece, Jennifer Mirto, her husband, Tommy and their son, Jack of Milford. The family is especially grateful for the care given to Bobby by Dr. Boffa, as well as the team of doctors and nurses from Smilow Cancer Hospital and Connecticut Hospice. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

To honor Bobby’s life and service to the Milford community, a Memorial Service Gathering is to be held on Friday, June 23, 2023, at Cody White Funeral Home (107 Broad St, Milford CT 06460) from 3 to 6 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, friends and family may consider donating to place a commemorative bench honoring Bobby in downtown Milford, the city he loved so dearly. The family has established a GoFundMe, which can be reached at https://gofund.me/c6b51380
