Philip Hersey

December 4, 1927 ~ November 16, 2021 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Tribute

Philip J. Hersey, 93, of Caribou, Maine, beloved partner of Joanne Wade, entered eternal rest on November 16th, 2021. Born on November 4th, 1927, he was the son of the late Bert and Olive (Norsworthy) Hersey.

Philip was born and raised in Caribou Maine, part of a large and happy family.  He went on to attend the University of Maine before being drafted into the US Army in November of 1950.  He served his country in the Korean War before being honorably discharged in 1952.  He worked for several years in New York City before meeting his wife Lucille.  They settled in Milford, CT and were blessed with their greatest gift in the birth of their son Philip.

Philip worked for the Bradlees Department Store for many years, eventually retiring as a retail manager.  He always approached his work believing he would never ask someone to do a job he was unwilling to do himself.  Following the tragic loss of Lucille, Philip retired and followed his heart opening his own business, A Touch of Class, at Captains Cove Seaport in Bridgeport.  His kind heart and easy-going personality made making new friends very easy.

Years later, Philip found love again with Joanne while following their shared passion for country line dancing.  They spent many years together sharing friendship, laughter and many adventures with their family and friends.  Above all, Phil lived a life as sweet as the chocolate he enjoyed and was blessed with the loyal friendship and support of the many people who have been lucky enough to have known him.

Philip is survived by his loving partner of nearly thirty years of Joanne Wade, her son Christopher Wade, daughter Kelly (Wade) Bettuchi (Husband Michael), and two granddaughters Lauren and Nicole who he took great pride in, as well as several nieces and nephews who he adored.

He was predeceased by his devoted wife Lucille (Ferrucci) Hersey and his cherished son Philip J. Hersey as well as his beloved sisters and brothers Pearl Staples (Bill), Barbara Wardell (DJ), Helen McGilvary (John), Audrey Chaney (Kip), Donald Hersey (Katherine), Merle Hersey (Margaret), Lendal Hersey (Mary).
