Matthew Robert Peterson

Matthew Robert Peterson, 32, of Milford, passed away on January 20, 2019. Born on January 18, 1987 in Bridgeport, he was the beloved son of Tony and Lori Peterson.   

Matthew grew up in Milford and was a graduate of Foran High School. He also earned a degree from Pace University and earned his MBA at Point Loma Nazarene University of San Diego, CA.  He worked as a Realtor throughout San Diego and Connecticut. People who knew Matt knew he a very loving, caring, charismatic, funny and intelligent young man – and, a great dancer too. Matt was an avid sports fan – especially college football. Matthew also enjoyed playing basketball and football in which he excelled. He will be remembered as a genuine friend and fun-loving individual. He will be dearly missed.

Along with his parents, Matthew is survived by his three brothers, Jon Peterson and his wife Amber of Southington, Anthony Peterson, Jr., of Milford and Andrew Peterson of San Diego, CA.; nieces and nephews, Aleksa, Josiah, Abigail, and Emma Peterson; maternal grandfather, John Bertig; his God-parents, Donald and Helen Corris, and his God-daughter, Gia Constantini of Milford.; several aunts and uncles, and friends. Matthew is predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Eunice Bertig; and paternal grandparents, Grace and Robert Peterson, Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 25, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Agnes Church, 400 Merwin Ave., Milford (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will be private. Friends and family may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT 06460. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bridgeport Rescue Mission Inc., 1088 Fairfield Avenue, Bridgeport, CT 06605.
