Joseph G. Kalakay, Jr., 74, of Milford, entered into eternal rest on Friday, June 8, 2018. Joseph was born May 6, 1944 in Bridgeport, CT, to his late parents Joseph and Elizabeth Kalakay.
Joseph was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country as a combat demolition engineer during the Vietnam War. He was a Life Member of the 28th Infantry Association. After his honorable discharge, Joseph worked for 30 years at AVCO/Textron’s Stratford Army Engine Plant and 20 years at Sikorsky Aircraft.
Joseph was a proud father who will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He was a longtime fan of the Green Bay Packers, New York Yankees, and New York Rangers. During his free time he enjoyed fishing and spending many hours at the beach.
Joseph is survived by his loving children; Jennifer Kalakay-Feinleib, Christopher Kalakay and wife Kyleigh, and Jessica Kalakay. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Brooke and Sophie Kalakay and Elle and Cole Feinleib.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Elizabeth Kalakay and his brother and sister-in-law, Michael Kalakay and Joyce Kalakay.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT. Interment will follow at the family plot at Saint John’s Cemetery, 2610 Nichols Ave. Stratford, CT. Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday, June 14, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at CODY-WHITE FUNERAL HOME, 107 Broad St., Milford, CT.
