Frederick John Cogan, Sr.

Frederick John Cogan, 77, of Milford, CT passed away at home on Friday, July 30, 2021. Fred loved spending time with his family and friends talking about history, sports and reminiscing about past memories and good times. In addition to spending time with friends and family, Fred also enjoyed building model planes and boats, collecting coins, and building a wide array of things. Fred had a beautiful smile and the bluest eyes that made the room sparkle. Fred will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Fred will remain forever in our hearts and never forgotten. 

Born on November 11, 1943, in Bridgeport, CT he was the son of the late Mildred Sophia Kongsvold Cogan and Robert John Cogan, Sr. Fred was the husband of the late Mary Jane Elizabeth Hoey Cogan. Together Mary and Fred raised four children, Christopher Cogan of Fresno, CA, John Hill of Tyler, TX, Frederick Cogan Jr. of Fresno, CA and Michael Cogan of Branford, CT. Fred is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda Delgado, Carol Ann Cogan, Justin Cogan, Jeffrey Hammel, Tyler Hill, Thaddeus Navarro, Zach Navarro, Dakota Kagy, Kaitlyn Cogan, and Ava Marie Cogan as well as great grandchildren, Harper and Henley Delgado, Evan Geuda, Ember Trevino, Kyndall Navarro, Alexandria Sullivan, Jax and Isaiah Dutra, and Emily Kagy.

Fred is also survived by his loving siblings, Roberta DiCicco, Robert Cogan, Gary Cogan, and Phyllis Young. Fred had many loving nieces and nephews as well who all loved him very much. In addition to Fred’s parents, he is predeceased by his oldest sister, Joan Volturno, and his other loving sisters, Marion Stellato, Martha Weeks, and Dorothy Ginsberg as well as a very special younger brother, Ed Cogan.

Services will be at King’s Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry Street, Milford, CT on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.
