Anne Fox (Donnelly) Gray passed away peacefully on February 7, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital while surrounded by her loving family. Anne was born on August 18, 1940 in Glasgow, Scotland to the late Michael Donnelly and Ellen (Devaney) Donnelly. Anne was the wife of 50 years to the late Hugh J. Gray.
Anne graduated in 1956 from Convent of Mary High School, Glasgow, and worked as an operator for the British Telephone Company prior to immigrating to the United States of America in 1961 where she fell in love with Hugh J. Gray. They were married on July 29, 1961 and had five beloved children together. Anne began her career with BIC Pen in 1970 where she became a quality inspector for 32 years before her retirement. During this time, she also pursued higher education, graduating with an associate degree from Housatonic Community College.
In her free time, she enjoyed volunteering for the Milford Senior Center where she met many friends. She was a devoted mother who showed her children that hard work and determination can get you far in life, and always had open arms for any grandchildren when they paid her visits. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy and going to Goodies. She was a beloved matriarch of the Gray Family, and she will be dearly missed.
Anne is survived by her five children: son Hugh M. Gray and his wife Ida of Southington CT, daughter Lynn Lynch and her husband Bill of Milford CT, son James Gray and his wife Casey of Orange CT, daughter Sharon Sorrentino and her husband Greg of Wallingford CT, and son Kevin Gray and his wife Tanya of Vancouver WA. Seven grandchildren: Lauren Vivenzio and her husband Ryan, Stephanie Gray, Brianna Gray, Erica Gray, Joseph Sorrentino, Olivia Sorrentino and Hugh Gray. As well as three siblings: Michael Donnelly, John and Pat Donnelly of Glasgow, Scotland, and Brian Donnelly of Lytham, England.
Anne is predeceased by four siblings: Ellen Carmichael, Agnes Carrigan, James Murray and Robert Donnelly.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024 at the Cody-White Funeral Home (107 Broad St, Milford CT 06460) from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at St. Gabriel Church of St. Raphael Parish (26 Broadway, Milford, CT 06460) at 10:30 a.m. PLEASE MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH. Interment to follow at St. Mary Cemetery in Milford, CT.
