Tribute

Albert John Homa, 96, of Milford, beloved husband of Sophie Homa for 72 years, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021. Albert was born on July 24, 1924 in Stratford, CT, to the late George and Mary Homa.

Albert served his country in the US Army from 1943 to 1947 as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, Victory Medal and the Distinguished Unit Citation. He worked many years as a woodworker. Albert was an avid golfer who also loved the NY Mets and NY Giants. He played softball with the Knights of Columbus when his children were young, and in his later years was a member of St. Mary Choir.

In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by his children, Ruthann Perrotta, Debbie Lowy, Dave (Arlene) Homa, Mark (Phyllis) Homa, Daniel (Tammy) Homa and Matthew (Christine) Homa; grandchildren, Melissa (Mauro) Biondi, Mattia (Danielle Buccola) Perrotta, Ryan (Maria) Homa, James (Stephannie) Homa, Jennifer (Karl) Hoffmeister, Allison (Alan) Forgette, Christine (Alex Stoner) Homa, Tim (Stephanie) Homa, Thomas (Brittany) Homa, Helen (Donnie) McCarthy, and Albert Homa; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, William Homa, Helen Pawlak, George Homa and Mary Komar.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, January 22, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Church (Precious Blood Parish), 70 Gulf St., Milford, CT. Masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will be private.
